Shop for Goodyear Retreads

Goodyear offers several retread technologies, from the spliceless construction of its premium UniCircle® retreads to its untraditional pressure retreads to Goodyear's new Gold Medallion Retreads that meet the premium casing specifications of large national fleets. Whether you operate long-haul, regional, or mixed service trucks, you can get the performance you need by choosing from Goodyear's application-specific tread designs.

Why Should You Choose Commercial Tire Retreading?

  • Less Costly - Retreading your tires instead of buying brand new tires can save you money. By re-using an existing tire casing and adding new tread, you can receive a more efficient cost per mile of your tires.
  • Environmentally Friendly - Retreading is an ecologically friendly approach to the constant need and manufacture of tires. Rather than using materials to create brand new tires, retreads use the casing from existing tires, which cuts down the number of wasted resources. Each casing can have up to three or four lives, which means three or four retreaded tires as opposed to three or four costly new tires.
  • Safety: It is a myth that retread tires are not safe for drivers. Many of the rubber found on highways and interstates comes from drivers who continued driving on a flat tire. And most of those torn flats were new tires. With the process used in retreading today, it is virtually impossible for a casing to separate from its tread. Nearly every major airline operates retreads.

How Are Tires Retreaded?

  • Buffing down the old tire tread to ensure that the new tire tread can adequately adhere to your tire.
  • Repairing any damage to the sidewalls or casings that could affect tire safety.
  • Applying new, custom-made tread for your tire.
  • Final inspection of cosmetic flaws, safety issues, and proper adherence to tire.

Where Can You Get Tires Retreaded?

McGee Commercial Tire & Services is one of only two retreaders in the state to offer shearography inspection.

How Does Shearography Work?

  • Laser light reflected off the surface of the tire. As the tire is stressed in a vacuum, the surface topography inside of the tire changes, and the reflected light comes back at a slightly different angle. Images are captured before and after the vacuum cycle or in Differometry before, during, and after the vacuum cycle. This image information is processed, giving the resultant image.
  • The way this reflected light information is collected and processed is what makes these systems/methods different. In Shearography, the reflected light must pass thru a shearing optical element, hence the name Shearography (shear, to cut or separate and graph to record). The shearing optical element separates the view producing an interferogram that displays a double or laterally displaced image.
  • It will find manufacturing flaws in a new tire, but when used to examine used tires, it can find a multitude of problems.

GTRACS

Whether you're managing a national or local fleet, Goodyear's GTRACS gives you valuable information about your tires and retreads. This data will help you make informed tire decisions that can save your fleet lots of money.

  • Simply put, barcodes. When a commercial truck tire is brought to one of Goodyear's Truckwise locations for repairs or retreading, it is marked with a barcode. The barcode is scanned at every workstation throughout the retread process so you can track your service and performance records.
  • Once your tires are serviced or retreaded, Goodyear will provide you with charts and graphs that show the efficiency of each tire or retread, so you can see what combination of tires works best in the long run. Qualified fleet customers can even access this information online with Fleethq.
